Real Bread League
The story of Real Bread League — how a Waterbury kid who hustled for every dollar ended up building the go-to platform for independent bread route operators across the country.
The origin
As soon as I could carry a shovel, I was out in the neighborhood hustling — cutting grass, shoveling driveways, cleaning yards. Whatever it took to get that bread. When I turned 16 and landed my first job, whenever a friend asked what I was up to, the answer was always the same: "Man, I'm trying to get this bread."
That hustle never left. It just grew up. Today, I embrace the full irony of making a living in an industry where I'm literally carrying, transporting, and stacking bread every single day. That double entendre isn't a coincidence — it's my mantra and my way of life.
I wish I could have started vending even earlier. The route business gave me something I couldn't find anywhere else — independence, ownership, and a real path to building something of my own. But I had to figure most of it out alone.
Real Bread League exists so that the next operator doesn't have to. Everything I learned — the hard way — is in this community. The shelf execution, the stale management, the due diligence, the income potential. All of it, right here.
Meet J-Rome
J-Rome is a Waterbury, CT-based entrepreneur with a career spanning early childhood education, manufacturing, hospitality, and small business ownership — including a restaurant, a barbershop, and an independent bread delivery route.
He didn't build RBL from a boardroom. He built it from the route — from early mornings on the shelf, from stale negotiations, from learning how to read a facing count and turn it into income. Every resource in this platform comes from lived operator experience.
Beyond RBL, J-Rome serves as President of Build Legacy Together, a nonprofit focused on youth development and mentorship in underserved communities — because building legacy isn't just about bread.
By the numbers
What drives us
This industry doesn't have to be a solo sport. RBL exists to connect operators so that knowledge flows freely and nobody has to figure it out alone.
Every insight, strategy, and lesson in this community is shared openly. The whole point is that your win helps the next operator — not just you.
No polished corporate speak. No watered-down advice. Everything in RBL comes from working the route — early mornings, real numbers, real results.
Our mission
Real Bread League was built to give independent bread route operators the community, education, and tools they need to build profitable, sustainable businesses — without the corporate gatekeeping that has kept shelf-level knowledge locked away for too long.
